We have been informed that Sandy Sanders who served onboard Lowestoft during the 1974-1977 era as an AB Gunnery rate 'Crossed the bar' on the 11th February 2026 aged 70.
Sandy was a stalwart member from the beginning of the association and attended all the reunions with his dear wife Jacquie up to last year when he was unable to come along due to ill health.
A great oppo who was always willing to help at the reunions bringing along his lovely rum tub and other Lowestoft memorabilia and acting as the "duty photographer".
We will miss Sandy who has left us far too soon.

RIP Sandy..............5339........................... ........5340

This is awful news. Only learned of his back story recently, never having got to know him that well. He was unfailingly present, and you always think you have time. Irreplaceable. Farewell Sandy.

Only this minute heard the sad news so havent had time to take it onboard. Always an ever present til last year dear Sandy was a really enthusiastic member of our gang. As always and inevitably I meant to ring him and Jaquie to ask how he was getting on. Only a few days ago I thought that I must ring but didnt. Thats all I can say at present, another of our young lads gone far too soon.

Jacquie has asked me to inform all that Sandy's wishes were to have an unattended direct cremation which will take place on Tuesday 3rd March. She has asked that we all raise a glass on that day to celebrate his life and remember him in our own special way.

Awful news indeed but for me, not unexpected. I sent a text to Sandy on Christmas Eve to see how he was but got no reply. So, knowing that he had a serious health issue I feared the worst. So sad, he was such decent, nice guy and always good company. He will be sorely missed. Commiserations to Tony’s lovely wife Jaquie. RIP shipmate, gone but not forgotten.
